Just a reminder that the IMBA Trail Care Crew is coming to Boonville October 13th to 16th. Here are the details. On Thursday, October 13th, we will have a group ride on the new singletrack at Boonville Middle School. The ride will start at 5:30pm for some daylight riding. With a full moon and half of trail being lighted, we can ride as long as we want, without lights!! Feel free to bring your lights anyway and any decorative lights to make this a really fun event! On Friday, the 14th we will have a Club Care presentation. This is about an hour long session that Jake and Jenny of IMBA will offer that aims to help our local clubs become more successful. This session will be at Boonville Middle School at 6:30pm, and all clubs are encouraged to attend. Saturday, the 15th is the big day with the Trailbuilding workshop being held at Boonville Middle School from 9am to noon. We will eat lunch at the middle school and then head to Scales Lake Park for the trailbuilding fieldwork from 1pm to 4pm. The goal of this workshop is to learn how to build sustainable trails that are fun for everyone. Please provide adult supervision for anyone under the age of 15. On Sunday, Jake and Jenny will host the first ever IMBA Ride Leader Training! This training will offer techniques and tips on how you can effectively teach people how to safely ride bikes and trails. This training is limited to 12 people and I want to give all local clubs the opportunity to attend. It will be held at the Scales Lake Shelter House from 9am to noon with riding and a cookout to follow. The riding will start around 1pm and everyone is invited to the ride. The pre-registration is now available at www.imba.com/civicrm/event/info?id=161&reset=1Please check with me in advance if you'd like to attend the Ride Leader Training on Sunday, my email address is freeride_co@hotmail.com. During pre-registration, please select all of the events that you are planning to attend. If you want to select more than one event, hold the "ctrl" button on your keyboard. The Boonville Bike Club hosted the 1st annual Red Dome FreeCross today at Scales Lake. Even with all of the rain, we had a good turnout of hardcore riders. Congratulations to all of the riders for finishing the race, and especially to Dan "the man" Goldbach for posting a blistering pace under 25 minutes!

Hey Paul, thanks for asking. We're still working on details for group rides and the Club Care presentation. The workshop on Saturday, Oct. 15th will begin at Boonville Middle School from 9am to noon (CST). The field work will follow at Scales Lake Park. On Sunday, the crew will also conduct a bicycle instructor training session from 9am to noon. This will take place at the shelter house at Scales Lake Park with a cookout and riding to follow. The training on Sunday is limited to 12 people, so please put anyone with serious interest in touch very soon. There will be no certification for the training. I'll post more details as I get them.
We have 8 rhinos and a variety of other hand tools (shovels, rakes, clippers). Tim Barnes has offered to bring 6 more rhinos and can get more if we need them. That's great that you guys are coming down! I'm thinking we'll have a pretty good turnout, so any tools that you think we'll need would be a big help. Thanks for the support Paul! Give me a holler anytime.
Brad

Hey Curtis. A Sally Alley is the route that goes around a jump. We just don't want riders to feel like they have to hit the jumps.

The Boonville Bike Club has two big announcements.
The IMBA is sending a Trail Care Crew to Boonville! The trailbuilding workshop will be held on October 15th, 2011 at Boonville Middle School with fieldwork to follow at Scales Lake Park. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved and learn from the best to build fun trails for everyone.
To help fund this event, the club will host a mountain bike race at Scales Lake Park on September 25th. This race will feature a unique format of 4 racers battling head to head in a one-lap sprint on a rugged 5-mile singletrack trail. You pick your foursome or we’ll find a group for you. The course will feature jumps, drops, and stunts to anyone who is interested.
Pre-registration for both events will be up soon. More details to come.

There is a very dangerous tree down on the trail across from the petting zoo. It is on the landing of the big jump at the base of the very steep hill (the A-frame jump). I don't have a saw but will try to get someone to remove it soon.

Pretty sloppy today. Should be good tomorrow if the rain stays away.

Trails were great tonight. A few mud spots but nothing you can't go around.
