We got to the park and was riding around 0830... trails were firmly frozen! Was noticing some sunny wet areas as we were getting out of the woods around 1000.

I have a buddy that had a road bike built by Spicer Cycle... they are in Evansville and can probably answer some of your questions, then again they may just want to sell you a frame. Check them out here.... spicercycles.com/ Hope this helps, they make some nice rides.

Anyone interested... we are still riding from USI on Saturdays. We meet at 0600 for a 17 mile loop, then regroup back at the USI parking lot... for those that didn't want to get there early, then do a extended ride at 0700.
Just thought I would pass this along since the rain has the trails messed up for the next couple of days...

I'm able to help out when needed, please add me to the list. I have a lot on my plate right now, high school graduation and then 2 in college. I also work all different shifts including weekends, so being able to get involved all the time is not going to be possible for me.

Rode New Harmony today and the trails were in great shape... I'm sure the rain we just had put a dampner on that,
Just wanted to post that there are a couple of large trees that have newly fallen on the intermediate trail... not possible to get around. It is located all the way back before the last switchback to the fire road.
Who is the right person to contact or set up a trail maintenance day to get things back into place? Any information would be appreciated.

Check it out here, make him a offer! evansville.craigslist.org/bik/1646264303.html

1st ride of the year went without a hitch... I'm guessing most of the folks were turned off by the cold weather or were busy drinking green beer. Only had myself and 1 other rider... still was a good ride. 23 miles at a leasurely 16.4 mph avg.

Since I added the post on the Saturday rides, I'll also give everyone a heads up for upcoming Wednesday evening group rides.
As Daylight Savings Time changes for the good, we will continue our Wednesday evening rides beginning on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day! Meeting at Dan's Competition parking lot, and leaving from there at 5:30. The ride is usually a challenging 25 miler...
New for this year is a plan of alternating meeting places every week, first week starting at Dan's Comp and the following week, meeting on the west side at Howell Park, this will allow the guys in Eville and Newburgh the chance to not drive so far.
These rides are not with a bike club, just a bunch of biking junkies. Just passing this info long for others to join in....

Our Saturday morning road rides are beginning once again as the temperatures are beginning to rise... The first of regular rides will begin this Saturday, March 6th.
Meeting place is USI, parking lot closest to the highway on the main drag. The ride starting time to begin the year out will be leaving at 0700 from the parking lot...
Our early ride is 17miles, goes out through St. Phillips area and loops around to return to USI before 0800. We then pick up any late risers at USI and leave the parking area at 0800 for a quick paced ride to be determined by the group, usually ends up being anywhere from 25-35 miles on 2nd ride.
If your tired of the winter blues and ready to stretch those legs, come on out and give it a try. The group pace is fairly brisk, usually averaging around 17-19 for the entire ride, regrouping at major intersections if needed.
I'll send out a heads up to the changing of times as they become neccessary...

Sounds like a good time... any time on the bike is better than sitting at home or at work!
