I went for a walk out at Angel Mounds today and it was surprisingly dry. I started on the levee and took the first entrance on the right, then walked all the way back to the scout bridge. A few spots were gummy, but there was no mud. Should be good to ride, but it's getting a little overgrown in spots.

Not sure if anyone followed the world cup last year, but I thought I'd share. Freecaster.tv won't be broadcasting the coverage this season. Instead it is being picked up by Red Bull Media House and will still be broadcast online free of charge. The first round of the year is this coming weekend. More info and an event schedule can be found here: www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Event/UCI-Mountain-Bike-World-Cup---Pietermaritzburg-021243150570975 If you've never watched a Downhill race, give it a try. They're pretty exciting.

Trying to drum up some activity, are we? I don't have any big plans for this year. I'd like to finally make it up to French Lick for a ride. I'd also like to win MTBR's random drawing for a Specialized Camber 29er, but that's unlikely. I'm trying to get a bunch of debt paid off, so probably won't be getting any new bike goodies this year. Maybe next year.

I love the idea, but it will be tough to get enough support for it. Worth a shot though.

Parking in the small gravel lot at the intersection of Lynn and Pollack is your best bet, and will give you access to the sections of trail that have the best chance of being dry.
Some of the sections shown in those videos aren't part of the bike trail, but they also skipped over half of the actual trail. When you get out there you should be able to see a defined trail, as well as a packed down "line".

Was one of them the big laid-down stump toward the beginning of the trail? I always feel like I'm going to clip it, then run wide and lose momentum.

I took the GoPro out to Scales and shot some video yesterday. I think it turned out alright. vimeo.com/27521001

Well, I had planned to go but I had to run out to Dan's Comp to pick up my new ride. Passed Daniel on my way out there.

Cool. I've been dying to go for a ride. No rain in the forecast for today or Friday.

Has anyone been out to Scales today? I imagine it's probably still a bit soggy.

Thanks for the updates Tim. I come here to check trail conditions at least twice a day every day.

Hard to say, but they're probably still muddy in some spots. It doesn't look like it's going to rain so I'm going to try to make it out there tomorrow. I think it should be okay by then.

Went for a ride at Scales today and it was soggier than I expected. If I had known it was still that wet, I think I would have stayed at home. If we get rain tomorrow I'd say the trails should be good to go by Saturday, so long as we don't get any MORE rain.
