I won't be able to make it today. I don't think I could even hold a rhyno anyway as my hands are still recovering from riding Snowshoe this weekend. I plan on making it out there next week though.

I'll be out of the picture for a couple of weeks - going out west. Should be ready to work again during the first week of October. Will do minor maintenance to the trails this weekend before I go. Can't make it this evening or tomorrow either.

Bermed out the rest of the turn dropping down into the bowl last night and bench cut maybe 25 feet more of new trail, before i had to walk out in the dark. It will get a little easier going once we get around the next two turns. We are in the steepest part right now. This part is going to be more technical than I had originaly thought. Its just the nature of the terrain. Plus we need rain. The dirt is pretty hard to pack right now.
Tim - have a blast out west I'll see ya when u get back.
Dan- you'll have to let me know how Snowshoe was. See ya next week. I should be back on for next Thursday.

Hey, Zach, we got the rain! Dirt should be good to work with next week. I sharpened all the rhinos, started the chainsaw and fixed the yard boss yesterday evening. Found the missing cotter pin in the shed. I might try to post some pics on the trip, especially any mtn bike trails. My son wants to hit some DH's around Prescott, AZ., so there may be blood involved!

Damn, Zack, you moved some dirt! I did some work today but concentrated on the existing trails. I did try to hand cut the log but it was too big. It will take a chainsaw. I may be able to get my brother-in-law to help me w/ it tomorrow. I left some stuff in the shed (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). Leaving Thursday, so tomorrow will be my last chance to get it.

Killer .... The dirt on that section actually cuts like butter. Very easy to manipulate but still hard to pack. Not much roots either. Took a ride tonight to see how every thing was riding and when i got to the end I used my rake that i left out there to clear another 50 yards or so. Tim if you cut up that log please don't kick the pieces down the hill we need to use them for a backing (kinda crib wall) for the berm around that corner to help keep some flow there. Thanks -zach

Cut the log. Used part of it for backing to berm the corner. The rest decided to roll down the hill. Looks okay. Dirt very hard to pack - need moisture. Worked on the turn some. I didn't cut the log over the trail where you left the rake. Didn't know if you wanted to save it for an obstacle. Looks like its kinda straight after it where it hasn't been cleared. That's it - I'm out until after the trip.

Thanks Tim. I knew some of that wouldn't stay there. Pretty steep. Now that the log is out of the way we can work with it and see exactly what has to be done there. Have fun on your trip. see ya when you get back. Dan- looks like i'm going to miss you this week. I will work a bit thursday night and probably ride saturday morning. Maybe we'll get together next week.

I finished benching out to the next hard left turn by the big downed tree on the right. Zach and Tim, your work looked good on the trail. I didnt mess with any of the berms, I really want to ride it first to see what needs to be done but it looks pretty good the way it is. Im still trying to decide what to do with that tree on the right where I stopped last night. I definetely want to make some kind of log ride feature there but it will take some work to build a good transition up to it. The way I left it now if you follow the berm to the right you will go towards the log and if you go left you will drop off the berm onto the main trail. Zach, you will see what I mean if you are there today. Again this section needs a lot of work. I may make it out there tomorrow but now sure yet. I will be out of town this weekend. Hopefully we get some significant rain today so that dirt will be easier to work with.

Now that the weather is slowly starting to cool off and the days are getting shorter I think we need to set some official trail work days. We should be able to get more volunteers during the fall/winter as most people have less on their schedules and are more willing to work when its not 100degrees out. I would say at least 2 days a month like 1st and 3rd Sunday and if we have a good turnout we could start doing every Sunday. Let me know what you all think.
Marshall- A lot of the new trail has already been flagged and routed we just need volunteers to help benchcut and clear brush etc. Alex is supposed to be down sometime this fall to continue flagging the trail. We still have plenty of trail to cut before we run out of flags. There are plenty of tools we can use at the park.
