Although temps in the 20's, the trails are very soft due to the sunlight and snow cover on them. Could probably ride tomorrow depending on the sun. Temps will definitely be cold enough to keep them frozen w/o the sun. Maybe some snow, too....

Feb 13, 12:00 Probably does not need to be said, but the trails are MUDDY.

The trails are very soft today - can't even walk on them. In conjunction w/ the state park staff, we shut the gate to the trailheads. We'll check on it tomorrow. The wind may help dry it out, but this is the Spring thaw (w/o the Spring). Discovered the wet dirt, i.e. MUD, is at least four inches deep when I worked on the Walnut Trail. Good news is weather should cooperate to dry out the trails this week. Next weekend may be really good.

The trails are still soft but drying nicely. I tamped out the ruts at the beginning of Sycamore. Good news is they didn't go too far into the trail. Just enough for the riders to realize the trail was too soft (or ball up enough mud that the wheel stopped turning). Some of these ruts were very deep! Worked out some deep footprints to the "HMBA" stump. Still some more to do... The gate is still closed to the trailheads. The ground is still too soft to even walk on w/o leaving a print. I think if we have another day like today Thursday, they can be opened Friday. Would be great for a night ride! Plan on walking the rest of Sycamore tomorrow and Walnut Friday.

Good news - no rain. Bad news - no sun. Looks like Saturday before the trails will be dry enough to open up.

;D Trails are tacky and the trailhead gate is open. Still a few soft spots but generally ok. Enjoy the ride. Probably be good for the trail to see some traffic to beat out the footprints I didn't fix.

Trails are still tacky with soft spots. People walking and riding them say they're all okay. Tomorrow ought to be perfect.

Sycamore had a few wet spots but mostly good today. Walnut was almost perfect with only one soft spot on the old section to Walnut Ridge picnic area. Didn't get a chance to ride the extension today but it's probably okay.

Some soft spots but the trails can be ridden. The park only got about 0.05" of rain.

Sweet! From the amount of rain I got at my house I figured they would be muddy all week. I may try to get a night ride in this week. This weeks forecast looks pretty dry as well, just a chance of rain on thursday. Hopefully they will be good for the weekend.

Daniel, if you go out, check out the area past the "Trails End" sign, especially the turn at the top of the hill. Should this be in-sloped with a berm or left like I cut it? I didn't know exactly how to do it.
