Trails were very soggy at 12 noon today. The sun came out later in the afternoon, but it will be at least another day before the trails can be ridden. Unfortunately, rain is in the forecast.

The trails are still too wet to ride. The ground was even too wet to dig on the new section. Rain is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.
The road to the trailhead (and most of the park) will probably be closed Thursday due to high water in the Wabash River. Road Creek backs up and covers the main road just past the maintenance garage. HSP personnel think it will remain too high until about the 15th. The road will open up when the Wabash River is below 19' as reported in New Harmony.

This weather is so weak. At least it gave me time to put a tow hitch on the new car so I can use my bike rack. I'm ready to GO! Been killing myself on the stationary bike for the last couple weeks so I can hit the ground running. (rolling?)

I agree. I'm thinking about canoeing angel mounds, to hell with the bike

So on the way to HSP yesterday, I figure I'm finally going to have to give up riding and working on the trails for a while after the rain hits Tuesday and Wednesday... What the hell - get out the road bike and ride the six mile road loop at Harmonie until things dry out. Its been over a year since the road bike has seen daylight. Get to the park and I'm told I won't even be able to reach the loop after the creek rises. Shit!

Can't get to the trails to check them out. The main road is still flooded. Looks like late next week before we can access the trails. Heard French Lick is good to ride now. O'Bannon appeared to be in good shape today when I went over to work on the trails there.

I ran into Mrs. Gray today (she lives in the house inside the park) She said there was a good 6" over the road. Hope it goes down quick, next week is looking to be a winner!

The water has almost receded from the road. It should be passable by tomorrow morning. Judging from walking trails before the road closure, the trails might be in pretty good shape. I'll check them out early tomorrow afternoon and post. Hopefully, they'll be good enough to ride soon.

Rode all the trails and they are in great shape. There are a couple of fall line sections on Sycamore and one spot near the end of the Walnut out-and-back that are soft. The one on Walnut has already been identified as needing rock armoring. Everything is tacky and clean. Removed debris from the trails. There are a lot of roots now that weren't there last Fall, but nothing that is detrimental to riding. I'm gassed up and charging my battery for a night ride tomorrow night. Any takers?
BTW, someone is cutting the logs that were left intentionally on the newer section of the Walnut Trail. One has been totally removed and another one has been cut so it can be bypassed. If whoever is doing this reads this, please stop and send me a PM about it. I'll explain why these were left as features.

Good news Tim! I was also wondering who removed those logs on the out and back.

Glad to know it's rideable. I'll possibly be heading out tomorrow, I'll give an update on condition. If anyone would like to ride at a particular time please let me know. Cheers!

I was wondering the same thing the last time I rode the extention, but just figured I was imaging things. Seems like more work getting back there with a saw or axe than to just bump over them on your bike...they where pretty small logs if I remember right, way below hanging on a chainring?

The trails are wet now - rained on the night ride. Should be okay by tomorrow afternoon if there is no more rain on them. Going to the park tomorrow morning to do the scheduled work day. Will try to update the trail status then.

Sounds good. I plan to head there today when I wake up. I haven't had a spare moment to ride in a month and have yet to ride these trails with out snow covering them.
