Scales was in great shape by this afternoon. The only muddy spots were the spots that stay that way no matter how much rain. Glad I went several riders were out there having a blast. Got in over 20 miles.

Rode scales tonight started about 5:00. Trails were mostly dry. There were a few new trees down from the wind on Sat. Thank goodness someone had already cut them. Several 2 and 3 inch limbs on trails, a few almost had me. Had to try out the new Haro Sonix frame, loved it.. Gonna try to ride sat or sun morn. early. Great ride no one crashed, will have to try harder next time...
Thanks to whoever cleaned and cleared trails it is greatly appreciated!!!

Anyone rode scales lately? I was thinking about maybe trying to get out there friday after work for the first ride of the year. Looks like its going to be dry and sunny until Saturday so I am thinking the trails should be dry enough to ride by then.

Also what are the park hours now? I know they were closing early for a while.

Trails were perfect last week. They should be good to go by Wednesday or Thursday for sure. As far as I know, they are still closing at 4:30pm daily and 6pm on Saturday.

Trails were in excellent shape friday evening. I got there a little before 6 and got in 2 laps. You can tell there has been more work done to the trails, some good some bad. A few more berms and jumps that were pretty cool however, I dont understand all the trees and roots that have been removed. I would have got some pics but I forgot my camera. It looked like the park is back to normal hours, or open later at least. There were lots of campers and I saw two other riders on the trails. Gate was still open when I left. It looked like a peacock got in a fight with a coyote or ran over by a biker because there were feathers all over the trail just a few hundred yards in going clockwise right by that double jump. Kind of an odd site to see out on the trail. Anyway had a good ride and can't wait to get back out there. Hopefully the trails will be dry by the end of the week after all the rain we had today.

I was at scales saturday evening making a few cuts in the trail for drainage. Trail was a little too wet to ride however I did see a few people riding. I''ll be out there Wednesday and Friday evening after work to get a few laps in. Trails should be good to go by tomorrow.

Those cuts look real good. Was that you working on the drops on Saturday?

Those cuts look real good. Was that you working on the drops on Saturday? Sure was, I smoothed the landing out and removed a few root stubs that were sticking out. Also made the landing a little steeper as well. I never was happy with the landing on that drop. BTW I dont know who built that 2nd drop to the right but it still needs a little more work. Im not sure if they were trying to make it a smaller drop than the other one but its about the same height. Someone else had already made a bunch of cuts before I got there but I found a few places that still needed them.

This is the work of the YMCA for the "off-road tri" Kat and I spoke to the people at the park and it turns out that the superintendent of scales used to work for the Y and there is no real way of stopping them from dumbing down the trails for the tri as the super supposedly told them to go in and do what ever they felt needed to be done. Guess this just means we will have to get out there and build something new. anyone want to meet me out there at some point to take a look at the section kat I marked? that is of course if the Y didn't go in and screw that section up too

I saw parts of the trail that you marked off when I was there on friday. It could be a fun trail, a lot of steep terrain in that area. I usually ride out there in the evening during the week if you want to meet sometime.

Trails were perfect yesterday (Sunday). Got in 3 loops before dark. The parking lot was full of riders when I got there. I noticed more widening on a few sections of the trail, mainly on the begining of the trail that you enter behind the dam riding CW. Its the section of trail with the steep drop to the left with the pit. I assume this was done by the YMCA Triathlon people.
