wow, lower back. He should feel blessed because he could have easily lost the use of his legs with an injury there. I'm not old by any means (41) but I'm a little more cautious these days. I still push the boundaries of my own abilities though. Glad to hear he's ok!!

Good deal, hope he'll be able to get back on the saddle soon. I've always wondered what liabilities Scales lake has for the riders of it's trails. Is it written or documented anywhere ? If I rode there as much as others, i would demand they have a medical center. Just for me, cause......

I hope he had a helmet. It's so second nature for me, i could not imagine riding without one. It was actually scales lake where a stick went through my helmet after one of my classic flips of misfortune.
I also hope the rider is ok, if anyone hears anything else please keep us posted.

Yeah, he must be the one with push weed mower that mike told me about. Next time I try to clear trails out there I'm bringing my lawnmower.

I don't quite grasp what the problem would be for anyone. My son is 10, he was intimidated a bit by the close edges but never had a problem with the downhill parts. if you slow down I don't see what the problem would be for anyone. I think I know the place you speak of. I would not have a problem with it because I don't care for the second half of the loop. I wouldn't see a problem with it. I think once the kiosk is ready, we will be able to convey more important info. Did I read there were mile markers on the trail now?

I have invited the TDE members to come play on the dirt side. I have not made it to one of the tavern tours yet but I plan on getting off my lazy duff and getting out there soon. If anyone cares to tame the pavement, check them out on facebook: www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=108393254984

I would like to finish the kiosk. I work with plex / polycarb , have it by the truck load.
I am assuming that it just requires a framed window , a few hinges and a lock. i would be more than happy to finish the thing up and at least make use of it.
I remember Alex talking a few months back on using it to convey the needed info to people. Maybe there are more out there who are willing to help but don't really visit here or the HMBA site.
An idea of basic info would be nice, park map, trail map, emergency info, rules, etc.
since I'm not at liberty to fly up there whenever I desire, could someone get me some measurements for the glass frame / door? or at least a photo of how they look in other parts of the park. That would be helpful. i could build it and just bring it up and throw it on.

LOL ! About the last 100 yds I raked in the dark. I could just barely see the trail and was hauling ass because the horse flies were really picking on me. I only saw one person the whole time. No one on a bike though.
I never knew how long that trail was until today. It felt like I raked for 20 miles
