I have officially called it a season. I'm closing on and moving into my house in two weeks so I'm going to be really busy anyway. Almost time to re-lace my boots and wax the snowboard.

I went and rode a little at AM after work today. It's mostly dry but the ground is tacky and I wore out quickly.
I befriended a gigantic box turtle today. We hung out for a minute then I moved him off the trail.

When is this trail supposed to open, and where is the trailhead?

I went out to Scales right after work today and enjoyed some of this mint weather. I was half way around before I broke a sweat.

Hey, I went riding Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The weather has been great though, and it's supposed to stay this way all week. It's just depressing to think that pretty soon I won't have enough time to go riding after work before it gets dark.

How are the hills out there? The longest climb I've done was the ride up to the microwave antenna at LBL. It almost killed me and I had to stop to catch my breath a couple times, but I had one hell of a runner's high at the top. ;D

That place looks incredible. I need to go up there some time.

Someone has been out there doing some work. Most of the main loop has been cleared again, a downed tree was removed and some other smaller trees were cut down. I rode down Tim's new section of trail. You weren't kidding about it being sandy, but I think it can still work. Once again there were all kinds of sticks and even a couple large logs placed across it. Weird.

Also, to explain the "ass-raped by an elephant" comment...
Back in the Spring of '98 some friends and I went to Snowshoe, WV for spring break to go snowboarding. I was doing a 360 off of a hip and when I landed I lost my heel edge and fell on my ass. One cheek stuck in the snow, the other didn't, and "ass-raped by an elephant" was how I described my feelings. ;D

I had a lot of fun out there. It's the first trail I've ridden with downhill sections that fast and challenging, and I had several close calls. Sometimes the trail surface changes from grippy packed dirt to loose round gravel, large sharp rocks, or even sand. Keeps you on your toes for sure. Unfortunately those downhill sections go both directions, so sometimes you're riding up them. I had to hike a few of them. Some of the climbs out there were just brutal though. The climb up to the microwave antenna seemed like it went on forever (1.1 miles, I think) but there was an awesome downhill section on the other side. Overall I had a great time and would definitely go back. I didn't get any pictures of the trails, sadly.

Those concrete things on the river front are a blast to jump off of! I love riding off those things too. There's a big one with a nice embankment where the greenway crosses the road to Sunrise Park. I chickened out but a friend of mine 360'd it on his 20".

I forgot to mention that this is awesome.
Where exactly is that section?

This is all great news. It seems like there is so much more interest in biking in this area than there was just a few years ago, but maybe it's just because I wasn't looking.
You think Ben could talk Paoli Peaks into building a downhill park? ;D

I just got a full service done to the bike too, so I'm ready.
