BMX popularity

Is BMX gaining popularity ?
I'm seeing a lot more BMX bikes for sale lately.

NEXT brand is really pushing a freestyle BMX bike, I see them everywhere around the hood. my boy had a bright orange one but it was stolen.

Because mom and dad aren't going to pay $400 bucks for a bike
that their kids are going to ride around the neighborhood on.

Looks will outsell quality in that market.
So what if they fall apart, they look awesome.

I was just curious if it was BMX thing or
"dang, my bike looks cool" thing.

There's a lot of them around here but i think it's the
price level and looks that are selling points.
