Park Map in PDF www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/files/obannon_woods_trail.pdfThe Bike Trail is "A" the Rocky Ridge Trail It appears to be only 2 Miles, however it appears that much of the trail has a 7-8% grade. Directions: Ok here's where it gets a little off the wall... For google maps directions to , type in Evansville to 7300 old forest rd sw indiana From highway 62- you cannot access Old Forrest Rd SW, as it is not a real road, and the bridge that crosses the Blue River is defunct!!! From Leavenworth east on 62, past Old Forrest Rd SW to 462, turn right/ south, till you hit Old Forrest Rd SW, and go right/ West. You will run into the park. Here's the latest SAT Map from Alex and here's the Topo (400' ft of elevation! I hope that work here will continue)

I've never rode a bike across but have walked it. The adventure trail used to cross here.

For what its worth, the views of the river and surrounding area will take your breath away. Best time is when the leaves have fallen and you can really see forever. I don't know what if any of the AHT they have incorperated but you owe it to yourself to check out the views. On or off the bike.

The current trails are just the beginning. The next step, this fall is to start clearing the Adventure Trail. It was buried by the the ice storm and Hurricane. We intend to keep the "Adventure" in the Adventure Hike Trail. So we will be primarily clearing tree tops that block passage. Some of the worst sections may be rerouted, but this trail will be Pisgah like. I am going to start looking for dates for the weekend work session. But in the mean time, please go over and check out the current trails (we need the park to see mountain bikers to justify more trails).

My plan was to head down there on Sunday, but I wore myself out in the yard and stuff on Saturday so I just went to Ferdinand. I will make it down there soon to check things out.
I am down for trail work this winter, but I know we also have a big re-route planned at Ferdinand, so my time will have to be shared.

Why in the world would they have not cleared the AHT by now ?
Oh well, it was never in great shape and was poorly marked with Steep climbs with no switch was pretty boring. It was also too easy to wander off down some horse trail and be completely lost.

Why in the world would they have not cleared the AHT by now ? Oh well, it was never in great shape and was poorly marked with Steep climbs with no switch was pretty boring. It was also too easy to wander off down some horse trail and be completely lost. HMBA had something to do with that. The Adventure Trail was a mess before the Hurricane and Ice storm. Regardless of how hard core you are, many areas needed rerouting to be passable or any fun at all. The hardest part of rerouting an existing trail is closing the old trail. So we asked Bob (Park Manager). To leave the AT uncleared. We will clear the sections that are usable and leave the bad stuff covered in downed trees. Alex Harrington started clearing the first AT section this week. We will be scheduling work sessions this fall and winter to start expanding revised AD trail. Paul

Sounds like the end result is going to be a win win situation for everyone. Thanks for clearing that up. HMBA does an outstanding job, keep up the excellence!!

Checked it out today. Well marked and easy to follow. Easy to find some rocky sections there too.
