Zach, will this all be part of the original planned trail that is already flagged or will this be a entirely different section of trail? I have not walked much farther past where we are now so I don't know where and how far the flags go. A finished loop would be great and I think would attract a lot more riders.

I'm back. I'm available Sunday, going over Saturday to ride. Good idea, Zack. I know where you are probably planning on breaking out into the Walnut Shelter area and that will work until we get the rest of the trail done. Paul and I discussed a bridge might be necessary in one area - you probably know where. We should have enough treated wood to complete one. Contact me at twbarnes@me.com or send a personal message.

I benchcut across the creek and up to where Zach stopped clearing the trail. I didnt have a rake with me or any good way to clear the small trees and brush or I would have cut farther. There were also a lot of roots so it was a little slow going. I walked the flagged trail to where it meets back with where we stopped. It didnt seem like 2 miles to me but it will still take a lot of work. A lot of cool terrain to work with. I also built a 2nd approach trail to the log ride that will make it much easier to get on the log. Can't wait till this loop is complete.

Work day went awesome today! Thanks to those of you who showed up.
We defiantly covered more ground than was expected.
The ride and grill out after was great! I just wish I could have stayed longer.

;D Like Zack said, there was a lot of trail work done on the inaugural Saturday work day. Six people made a serious dent in the trail section being developed to connect to the existing Walnut Connector trail. Thanks to Zack, Daniel, Rod, Amy, and Joseph for the hard work. Special thanks to Joseph and Amy for the refreshments afterwards. The next work day will be the first Saturday in November. ;D
There is a new "Trail Information" sign on the kiosk thanks to Rod Cowell (ECS Graphics). This has the IMBA Rules of the Trail and some specific guidelines for riding the trails at Harmonie. It also states that all trails are "two-way" to minimize confusion about trail direction. Rod also made the signs for "Trail's End" and "Work Day Schedule".

The flagged corridore has been cleared. I'm not saying the last section to the north was dense, but agent orange came to mind many times while I was battling the briars. That section is wider than necessary because I dug out most of the briars that could reach the trail. The only section that isn't cleared is where we have to decide what we're doing w/ the downed trees near the finished section of the trail. There is one downed tree near the end of the flag section that will need to be chainsawed before it can be finished - no biggie though.

Worked on the trail On sunday, Mainly worked on a couple of features where you can get some air. They will be connected on work days with the rest of the trail.
Tim, Think Your right about having the short loop come out right behind the shelter for now. Easy peesy japaniesse. Only a few meters to open ground. Still I want to make a trail that comes out directly across from the walnut connector. I scouted it on sunday and from the creek crossing it is not to far. I'll Flag it and clear it. Most of it is thru a wonderful brier patch.
