I'll be at the Walnut Ridge picnic area tomorrow (Saturday 1/15/2011) around 8:30 am. Hopefully, the gate on the main road will be open. If not, we'll meet at the gate. I can open it, then close it behind us. Plan on completing any work necessary on the new section and adding some bench cut to the end of it. If anyone knows where the trails need maintenance, let me know and we'll try to fix them. Temp tomorrow should allow easy repair to rutted areas on the Sycamore and Walnut trails. I'll bring my bob trailer for better access (if the trails can take the riding).

Be there in the morning, should I bring anything? Limb cutters, chain saw, I have one of those little mantis tillers?

I think we'll probably just bench cut some new trail on the Walnut extension, so there will be plenty of tools. See you Saturday.

Randy and I worked a while on the Walnut extension. We removed the bridge and put it up next to the trail out of the ravine. Still needs to be carried out. We also bench cut about 75' past the "trail's end" sign. Dirt worked well but the roots wore me out. We'll work on it some more as time and weather permits.

Good job guys! I was going to go out there today but I'm way too sore and my hands are covered in blisters from riding all weekend at Rays. I'm excited to get back to working on the trails.

Daniel, sounds like the trip was great. Got any pictures? I was going to do some work today but was chased out of the park around 11 am by rain.

The extended forecast looks good for working on the trails next week at Harmonie. I'm planning on working Monday and Tuesday at least and hopefully Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. I'd like to break out the yard boss and smooth out some sections on the existing Walnut extension. I'd also like to finish the last section that is flagged past the "Trails End" sign. Please contact me if you want to help and have a preference in timing. I'm flexible except for Tuesday and Wednesday mornings - stuff to do then.

Used the Yard Boss tiller to rework two tight curves close to the "Trails End" sign. Smoothed them out and prepped them for rock armor. These turns are low spots where ravines drain down. It is apparent these will need either armoring or low walkways now. The "dirt" was soupy with water - beyond mud - in the low spots on the curves. Built them up and adjusted the transition in and out so it isn't as steep. If the Yard Boss had twice the horsepower I could have done more, but the mud kept balling up on the tines and killing the motor. Hope to get the rocks down to the points that need armoring later this week, probably Wednesday afternoon.

The weather forecast looks good for the work day Saturday. What time do we want to start? Any particular plans from anyone? I'd kinda like to armor the two low spots I worked on earlier this week or continue to bench cut the flagged section past the "Trails End" sign.

I won't be able to make the work day this Saturday....wish I could. I'm going skiing in Utah this weekend which will be a first for me. Figures the weekend I plan to go out of town turns into the nicest weekend we've had in months! Hopefully we can get back to a normal schedule again with the work days now that the weather is starting to cooperate. I'm ready to cut some more new trail at Harmonie!

Planning on being at Walnut Ridge Picnic area around 8:30 am. Come anytime. I'll be in shouting distance from the shelter house.
