When I went out there last Sunday I had noticed quite a few hoof holes and horse crap on the Goat trail, the switchback and campground trail.
Are they now being allowed on the bike trails? I know there was an issue during the middle of last summer but wanted to make sure.

They are not supposed to ride the bike trails, but it happens so rarely that there's not much that we can do. I didn't notice any holes, but I will take a closer look this week. If it becomes more of a problem, we will address it with the park staff and the board. In the past, they have ridden in the mud and caused major problems, but with time the holes covered up. I am predicting more horse traffic in the coming weeks. I think they are feeling threatened by the progress the bikers are making out there and do not want to lose their trails, even though they only seem to use the bike trails. With all of the bikes out there, I doubt they will last long.

When I rode the trails on Friday almost all of the prints were gone (I assume that the bikes smoothed them out) and there was no new crap. Im just worried about them on trails like Jedi where there is literally zero sight lines on lots of it and having a wreck with a horse.

That could be interesting.... and painful. I'm sure they are more worried about it though and are more likely to ride the horse trail near the Jedi trail. With the rising popularity of mtn biking at the park and near extinction of horse traffic, it may be the end of horse traffic at Scales Lake very soon.
