Possibly making an effort to start an Evansville Mountain Bike Club? Working on kind of the same concept as the Evansville Bicycle Club as far as putting out a schedule of rides at certain places (i.e. harmonie or scales), times, and days? just to kind of give people getting into the sport and those of us who are already addicted a place to meet up with one another and ride?
Maybe even a no drop ride on sundays at rotating trails every weekend of the month or something like that to get people to venture out to trails they wouldn't normally drive to ride on?
Just a thought and wanted to run it by everyone.

hey shouldn't you be working right now? lol j/k glad to know that some one is on board, not that it's been up long i mean i woke up at 3 am with my arm killing me and the thought popped in my head but maybe we can talk to some of the EBC members and get some ideas and if we go the monthly schedule route we can take them to Gilles, Top Spot, and Dan's to put on the free info islands that I believe they all have

Are there addidtional long term ideas/goals? Also keep in mind a club can also set itself up for itigation, by default.....
Are we talking about memberships, events, local lobby for facilities, and host events? If not, then I think this site will suffice as a central board for all things local.
I'm thinking of the EBC's sponsored Great Pumpkin Metric where a rider was killed in 2007. A family member has filed civil suit against the EBC and as far as I know is still ongoing. Of course EBC does have insurance (I believe through McKay insurance) but I don't know the extent of headache for the EBC.
Just food for thought.

yeah i'm not really talking membership dues just places where you won't have to ride alone basically and the printed monthly schedule will let people know we are around if they haven't found the site or do not have internet access.
last thing i want is people to be paying to be a part of a club cause with money comes lawyers. If we do the schedule I vote for a disclaimer some where on the print and E version of the calendar.

Yeah and maybe throw in a Big event to start the year and end the year with like a weekend ride at a place like Brown County or LBL or something along those lines?

Indeed- I was tinking of a every so often camp out at Harmonie or other ride related place, and brown would certainly fit the bill...

yeah just something to get the people who want to get out and experience some of the big name trails and see what they're all about to use the gas to get there and enjoy the company of other people from their area that they can communicate with and give and get tips from.
And if that went well it could turn into a quarterly thing where we split it up by the seasons and go to Harmonie for the first Event in the spring then maybe LBL for the summer event, then maybe like Hoosier National Forest for the Fall event and Brown County for the Winter event (these are obviously all just random spot that popped in my head at 5:30 am lol)

How come the EBC doesn't have their own chapter for mountain biking ? I have seen them at Angel, Scales. They were also involved in the trail building at Hormonie.

Yeah rider cut too hard into a corner in boone dock Posey county and had a head on impact.
I emailed the EBC a few weeks ago, 3 times over the last month, to enquire about them expanding to include and advocate for other 2 wheel contraptions but there has been no return reply .

The group seems really reclusive to me. which can come off as arrogant none the less.
I know what you mean about the no response email. I can't tell you how many times I've been ignored. Even a "piss off" reply would be something.
I have found that people will come out of nowhere to help support a cause only if the cause is pretty big like breast cancer. It makes them feel like they are part of something bigger then they are. Ask the same people to (walk) for bike safety and.......
naw, i dont think so. not that I'm trying to compare the two, it's just an example.

it's true. No offense to EBC members but over all I'm not impressed. And frustrated. and not impressed.
So yeah- lets not depend on EBC for anything, such as we have already done I suppose.
