hey all.... Scales has a ton of users... and everyone seems motivated enough to get out to scales and work here and there.... sooo....
here I go again... yes again... does anyone want to try for a small Dirt jump area and or pump track at scales?
also there are a few areas on trail that have not been (3 areas) tapped for air integration... sure, there are the 2 built ups on the south end, but there is a few good places for using the existing terrain as a launch with the potential for a sweet landing ramp on the backside..
It seems that there is more dedication to scales than anywhere else in the area... just food for thought. again.

Tim thanks for posting this.....
Just FYI- You don't have to be an EMT/Paramedic/RN or medically trained other than cpr 1st aid do be part of this... There are a million different ways to serve while on bike.. medically, local info, directions, giving info about bikes and bike related stuff....
We work walks and runs for the YMCA and greater evansville Walkers and Runners club.... try to patrol the greenway and downtown areas... worked 1 day of the Freedom fest and hope to do more next year as we expand members...
The Evansville Emergency Management Agency is a govt entity which helps coord disater efforts locally and is the main hub of District 10 which covers 10 or so counties in southwest Indiana/ and is also coupled with the Indiana department of Homeland Security. I hope that this team and the Hoosier Trial Patrol as a whole can provide support service, on bike, for declared disasters statewide and serve as an example for other states and national MTB patrol groups...
For instance the EMA Team will be helping to create damage reports for the EMA/FEMA after high wind/storm damage/ earthquake ect...
Also there are many other free trainings you can be part of if interested....
A major theme of this is operation is to crossover into the offroad, coupling with the Hoosier Trail Patrol/ National Mountain Bike Patrol... for a statewide coupling of MTB's and Emergency Management....
I'm "in charge" I suppose, and I'm not out to make this team complicated or a burden for interested persons so give me a shout if you are curious. We all have busy lives and I'm not going to demand people be at every event.... actually we'll all chit chat about it and see what we want to do and how best to do it... if we cant meet a request- we turn it down. it's as easy as that.
Holla- -Kyle...

*This message sent in the MTB email list, posted here for those not on it who might want the info....*
Hola- Kyle here.... Harmonie expansion: I went out a number of weeks ago to see if i could begin surveying for future expansion: no deal as the chiggers nearly ate off my left leg... not cool. In any event- the leaves are thinking of coming down and the chiggers are gone and it's time to think expansion.... (Nov 14th or 15th is a potential date for me but I'm not sure about it yet.... will notify when a definate date is set...) anyone interested in setting a preliminary scouting date for harmonie expansion please email or call 204 0551 evvemabike at gmail dot com
regards to my schedule, I work 12 hr shits EMS/ Fire... my typical schedule is
6pm to 6am
M Tue work Wed Thurs Off Fri Sat Sun Work
M Tue Off Wed Thurs Work Fri Sat Sun Off
So every other weekend I'm off.....
I talked to Alex recently and the goal is to keep the overall grades steeper than that of the Intermediate trail.... Looking at arial layouts it appears that we could have 3 to 4 up/down sections but Alex had made previous mentions of longer length down hill runs extending from the Intermediate westward....
In alex's opinion, this westward peice of land has the greatest potential, but also depends on how the developed lines interact with the parcel boundaries and the Okra "ditch"....
Of course all that is subject to change during pin flagging sessions, and again subject to change on the eve of construction.
If you have never been part of trail building get a copy of the free dvd from the FED (left hand side of the page) or give me a shout and we can watch the dvd at my pub or somewhere else....put a rhino to use and use a clinometer.
Harmonie Trail Expansion to do list:
Left over from summer: Pain Kiosk, obtain Lexan sheet for kiosk door cover, get info into Kiosk...
Evan got hold of a sheet but I haven't seen it. Tim do you still have access to an extra sheet of Lexan?
1.) check potential for usage of campground connectors, check with park MGT regarding necessary modifications and final approval.. Hand build this section for instant milage....Keep in mind it is already a "fire road" and small modifications might be needed, not a total overhaul.
2.) scout Advanced section....
I really would like to press for some table tops integrated into the initial portion of this trail, with options to go around them of course... The beginning of the westward push is of low grade and I'd like to up the fun factor by integrating this feature as it is close to a road and can be made into a loop back to the beginning... also, the machines will generate enough dirt nearly instantly for the features .... but again Alex/HMBA is there to build the trail not build tabletops so it would be up to us... Again, nothing crazy, just enough to give it a Hell yeah factor right off the bat.... Anyway- Clinometers, pink tape, and a lot of walking... seeking out cool views, and other features that might possibly be integrated into the cut trail...
Again- keep in mind that Harmonie MGT is progressive about development!!! We can independently develop plans for design and submit them (trail, pump tracks, jumps, skills park) independent of and or in conjunction with HMBA's work. It' all up to us.... the collective.
anyway- if you are jazzed about scouting and what not call me, email me, and we'll set a date... I'm going to check my schedule and see what weekend I'll be free (possibly the 14th or 15th of November) and if anyone is free during the week that's my golden trail work time.
***************************************** Chainsaw Certification Class Hoping to link up a trail scouting/trail repair/ cleanup day with a State Chainsaw cert class.... Harmonie stated that during the week would be better for them, but would open a weekend cert class if needed, and I'm sure most of you work during the week.... anyone who is off at random times during the week who wants chainsaw certification please email or call me and we'll get the ball rolling for a midt week cert class. ***************************************** National Mountain Bike Patrol: I'm now NMBP Instructor Certified. yay. I will be publishing Patroller Certification dates in the future, and am working to see about getting CPR first Aid Certification for free for those who need it.... Waiting on my Instructor Packet and some other items before preceeding.... ***************************************** New Trails: If you did not already know French Lick Trails and Obannon Woods trails are now open. See HMBA.org for more info.... that's the news. -Kyle

and waverly... what a cool place. Well established trails that are lightning quick. i got lost in the southern half of the trails and rode and rode and rode. I think I was doing loops but eventually found my way out... I did manage to find high ground at the radio tower and rode downhill to the entrance then took the road back up and rode the downhill in the opposite direction towards the lake... great fun. Dropped my tire pressure to around 30 psi and KENDA NEVAGALS ROCK!!! It was quite hot and it really wore on me. Looking forward to going back in the cooler fall months... and the best pic opportinities, well I was flying on the downhill and didn't bother to stop.
