I haven't been there but the trail is an "Alex Stewart" creation.... More established then Harmonie and much like Brown county. have you been to the HMBA forums in the Versailles thread? Maps, topo, pics, and discussion topics are at the ready... www.hmba.org/smf/index.php?board=28.0

"Harmonie has nothing to do with the trails"---- rephrase... Harmonie is not in charge of maintaining... but allows us to use equipment, and has YCC available for potential use...... They are the host, we clear ideas and projects through them... They have some items for us to use and are very willing to see us succeede because if we do, they do. win win.

As noted in the Where we Ride section: I built 2 launch ramps and anyone is welcome to give me shout if you'd like to meet up and use them... a 1 footer, and a 2 footer. they are very smooth when using a landing ramp. Take off angles on the one footer are relatively gentle and the 2 footer is a hair more aggressive.
My 20 inch is also avail for use for these puppies....
i'm trying to get enough nerve to let loose on the tabletops at Burdette but the tabletops are 20 some odd feet long. I'm just not ready for that yet....

I've used it at my firehouse (Co 6 on Burkhardt) as there are 55 gal drum barrels that the landing ramp can rest on, supported by 2X8's..... that's the only place I've used it so far, but I can rig up a brace and use the setup anywhere..... I live near Harper Elementary/UE and they have an open lot with grassy areas for the landing....or we could go to angel mounds as my FD is on the corner, or any park for that matter.... Here's my general schedule for the next few weeks... 7/24 Fri off Sat work 6pm-6am sun off Monday 6p-6a Tue 6p-6a Wed off thurs off fri, sat, sun 6p-6a mon 8/3 off tue off wed 6p-6a thurs 6p-6a fri sat sun off And just FYI I do plan on making at least one table top at Harmonie- hell or high water. Even of it gets damaged I can still maintain it. call anytime 2 oh 4 - oh five five one

also posted on HMBA forums.....
I'm going to go out on a limb and shoot for a scouting session around the middle of October.... Say October 18th.....
I believe that Alex is the only one to get a good on foot picture of what's "Westward" from the Walnut/Intermediate trail.... If anyone would like a topo and begin to review Alex's conceptual ideas, and then speak with him say, in a confrence call in the future, about what features and lines he knows exists so we can scout it....
give me a shout... email, or call 2 o 4 - o five five one

Launch Ramps: I built 2 last year a one footer and a 2 footer, with a makeshift (but sturdy) plywood landing ramp. If anyone wants to pull a mini jump session let me know... I'll be geting them out b4 too long and catching a bit of air. FYI 204. oh five five one

and I've noticed that: going the extra mile for the park does get returns from park management, and their employees, and avil materials. I've got a good working relationship with them and everyone who goes there can too.... expect Patrol sessions and other events to make even greater headway with the park in the near future....

Harmonie has nothing to do with the trails. Harmonie has nothing to do with a bike park. Everything bike related at the park is up to We the People. Period.
The maintenance guys can and will help out with certain things: ie using the frontloader for earth moving for us..... and there is the Youth Conservation workers who can be available: if we have a specific plan for construction presented to the park.
But ultimately- it is up to the local usses to keep everything in order.
It's not that Harmonie didn't want liability.... I don't want to be the only one in the prep phase for it.... If there is just a few people who can make it out there once a month and spend a few hours building: That's good enough for me for something small and manageable. If something small is built, and people ride it and begin to particpate in upkeep and maintenance, then we can expand it as long as there is a base of upkeep.

Harmonie is coll with any and all of it. If it brings in people- it's on......
Liability is intermixed with Tort claim. If some one falls off the intermediate trail and breaks a leg, or gets bitten by a spider at the camprgound, or stubs their foot at the pool, or gets hit by a deer in the showers: any claim that an individual wants to make against the park is atort claim and the person will be suing the federal government.
Harmonie is all green lights.

If anyone has viewed the HMBA forum regarding Harmonie, and the "Pump Track"..... Park MGT has given us the green light.... What ever, when ever for Pump Track, skills park.
There is no $, but we can have park employees use the frontloader and we can do whatever we want.
I will not proceed unless there is at least one other person who is excited enoguh about this project to develop a design plan, short and long term, with the intentions of carrying those plans out. We've got a great opportunity to get the ball rolling but I am not able to do something like this alone.
Ben Blitch is coming to town. Probably early middle August- and he is willing to lend us a hand. I was hoping to have other people's input regarding a bike park and show him our ideas as he overlooks the landscape.....he would be very willing to give us some very useful design info.
Without just one other person- I'm not going to go ahead with any of it. All I need is one to sit and talk about features, measure some points, map our ideas, and get something on paper for the park- Just one other person with a little vision... You don't need to know how to design a skills park because I have no idea what I'm doing but I'll learn along the way..... Plus Ben will set us straight to a certain extent.
I've been around town and heard "Hey have you heard about some bike park that HMBA is going to build at Harmonie?"
I hope everyone who heard this is set straight- the Harmonie 'bike park' concept was pulled out of my behind one day while staring at the field. Bike park will have no HMBA affilitation, no $ support outside of ourselves, will have no heavy machinery except the park frontloader, and will be hand built and brainchild designed from we the people.
anyone up for it? (and not just a 'yeah that sounds good') A real bonified meeting with red ink, paper, and tape measures........ Who's in? Call 204 - oh five five one
