Sorry, no action shots this week. We do have a shot of some of the members soaking in the abc's of bicycle safety. Enjoy! Attachments:

We had a couple of members of the Safe Kids program at St. Mary's stop by today to hold a safety training for the club. Following the training session, we took a short ride through the woods next to Breckenridge Park. The kids did a little trail maintenance while we were on the ride and a good time was had by all.
A big thank you goes out to Mary and Roxanne for a successful safety training. I would also like to thank Sally and Eric with the St. Mary's Foundation. They have graciously donated 25 new helmets for the club members to use!! This was a huge step to help keep the kids as safe as possible whenever they are out for a ride.

We had 32 kids show up for the first ride yesterday. Luckily we had 7 ride leaders which was just enough. We rode as a group from the middle school to Scales Lake. At the lake, most of the kids rode the trails. Only a few stuck to the road. We rode the first 2 sections of trail, starting at the softball fields heading clockwise. There were a few spills, but no major accidents. To end the day, we rode back to the school in small groups. The feedback was all positive and we hope to have a better turnout next week.

Get a set with an HID bulb and li-ion battery. You won't regret it.

Hey Tim, if you have any bikes that would work for the Boonville Bike Club, we will always take donations. I've received 2 bikes so far and have a lot of kids still without bikes that want to join. I'm willing to fix them up, so give me a holler if you have anything for us. Thanks a lot!!

Hey everybody. We had the first meeting today for the Boonville Bike Club. The meeting was open to middle school students only and had about 80 kids show up!! It will be opened up to high school students next week. A lot of the middle schoolers are really excited to get riding. But I'm sure we'll have about 20 or so actually show up to ride next week. Who knows, maybe they'll all show up!
Our first ride will be next Wednesday. We're going to ride a couple of the easier trails at Scales Lake and see how they like it. We'll have several ride leaders but may need more. Anyone is welcome on our rides. We'll be out there every Wednesday around 3:30 or 4pm. We will also be doing some trail work at the lake and on the fitness trail at the middle school. We are also working with the city on building a skills park in town. Maintenance lessons and bike videos on the big screen for rainy days. Come out and enjoy the ride with us anytime.

We used to use pallets at Scales Lake and they would only last a year or two before they started breaking. These were the light duty pallets. If the pallets are burlier than the basic pallet, they may work well.

Trails are looking good. The main trail is all clear. All of the trees, old and new, have been removed from the trail. There are still one or two down on some of the less traveled sections, but the main trail is spotless.

Trails are still in great shape. There are a few other trees down but the one Dan mentioned is the only one that really sneaks up on you. There is another one in a bad spot just before the jump that leads into the ridge with the twin ladder drops, heading CW. You can go around it to the right but it's kind of tight and a bit off-camber if you stray too far right. There's a road-tri out there tomorrow so be ready for some traffic.
