Yeah Dan, that was a lot of fun. Even though it was more of an xc-style super d, it's great to see a race like this around here. For those thinking about doing this next year, it's definitely worth the drive.

See you there Sunday. Can't make it Saturday, but Nate should be there.

He's pretty much back to normal but his vision is still screwed up. Should be back on the trails in a couple of weeks.

Looks like he's laid up for another day. The neck brace is off but he has a small fracture in his back.

It looks like he crashed on the section across the road from the petting zoo. I'm sure we're all familiar with it. It's the really steep downhill that bypasses the new s-berms. He carried too much speed down that steep hill and crashed going over the little hill/jump after it. His son wasn't sure what exactly happened because he was too far behind him, but that's basically how it happened. I'm guessing he went OTB and hit his head pretty hard. His son came up on the scene, called 911, the fire department carried him out and you know the rest. They're keeping him overnight but he's going to be fine.
He is a very good rider that rides out there a lot. He always wears a helmet, which I'm sure is toast at this point. I've met the ground off that jump a few times myself. I prefer the s-berms since they've been built. Just be sure to watch your speed going into it. Jumping off the top of that hill is just begging for a flat landing. Pre-jumping it is definitely the best way to get over it if you want to catch some air. Have fun, ride smart.

Just heard that he had a concussion but will be ok. Got a text from his son who was a student of mine last year. I'll post an update if anything changes.

Any shop should sell them individually for about a buck or so. But then again, it could depend on who waits on you.

Those cuts look real good. Was that you working on the drops on Saturday?

It looks like you found the culprits. I say we ask them to take a break from their trail work and urge them to become more aware of proper trail maintenance. If they are not cooperative then I think we should start reporting them to the gate. It's a shame that it's gone on this long, but keeping the remaining few roots and rocks on the trail would be nice. The paint is definitely an eyesore but at least they are leaving those features in place. I might start wearing orange lenses so that I don't notice the paint anymore

Yeah Daniel, that's the one. There was a lot more to it before it was cut. It's still fun tho.

Thanks for the advice guys. We certainly don't want any bad blood with hikers out there. I talked to the guy in charge of maintenance for the YMCA tri and he assured me he wasn't going to be dumbing it down any more. He did cut down a skinny that I made on a down tree but I don't think he even knew what it was. After I told him what it was he said he would be more careful about what he cuts.
It does seem like they are cutting way too much though. My guess is that it's someone competing in the Y-tri since this damage only started since they have started holding the race out there.

Thanks Tim. I think the park would be the best line of defense. If the gate workers could send the message to anybody doing trail maintenance then hopefully it will stop.
