We had a good work day and got a lot accomplished considering the heat. We are very close to connecting to the section of trail that was built earlier. I think a few of us will be able to connect it and hopefully have it done before the next work day. Then we can move on past the section that was built previously and continue on. I think there is about another 1/8mile or so marked. Also there are still a few small sections that still need benchcut and fine tuned on the section that we built during the first work day. The new section we built today looks awesome and should be a blast to ride.

Looks like I need to start looking at a calendar to pick a day to come back down. I am super excited about getting to ride the section we built by the Lake (I mean muddy pond).
Keep up the good work,
Paul

Rode what we worked on yesterday and it rides pretty darn well. Pretty fast even without being really packed in yet. I cant wait to finish off the rest of this hill.

I agree w/ Zack's comment. Really like the new bench cut section. Hope to work on other sections of the extension that need to be bench cut soon.

Sorry, guys. I totally flaked out and forgot. I knew there was something I had planned that morning, but it was erased by a massive brain fart. My bad.

Another night of hard bench cutting tonight got thru most of the hard parts of the way down to the road. Need to kinda connect the dots so to speak. Besides for maybe a 5 foot section the trail is actually ridable now. I wont make it out again until maybe friday night. Let me know what u think. - zach

Got the trail connected today. Started where smack finshed up last nuight. Then I raked the part that was cut last year. My bench cut still needs some tweeking but u can ride it now. Where the trail htst the old fire road you have a drop off should be fun to launch off.

First - thanks to Nebo Ridge Cycles in Carmel for the great deal on the BOB Ibex trailer. Second - thanks to Paul Arlinghaus for coordinating the purchase of the Ibex trailer, picking them up and delivering them to the buyers. ;D Third - there are only two words to express the operation of the trailer - "OH YEAH!" Put the trailer together this morning and headed to the trails. Bungee'd my machete, a rhino hoe, and other various tools onto the trailer and took off. The trailer tracked my bike perfectly. Got a lot of little work done that would have taken a lot more time w/o the trailer. Rode both the Sycamore Loop and the Walnut connector w/o any issues. This will really help me keep the existing trails maintained. I can haul the chainsaw and gas on it to take care of downed trees. I can carry my weedeater to get to that section of ferns and briars that grows so fast. It will also allow me to ride more instead of walking the trails.

I can see how that trailer is great. As these trails get longer it takes a considerable amount of time to walk back to where your working at.

Rode Sunday night out at harm and realized that the new trail has very little insloped turns compared to the other trails here. Just take a look at the connector trail and u will see what i am talking about. Just about every turn you either have the bench cut to use as a berm or a insloped turn on the outslope of the trail to hold you better on the ridge. This is just something to think about. I believe if we try and use this technique and maybe a little better use of grade reversals this loop will be just as good as any trail anywhere.
I'll be out there tonight working/riding - zach

Ive also noticed this as well. I think now that we have quite a bit of trail complete we can go back and improve on what we have finished. Maybe we could concentrate the next build day (this sunday still?) on improving/fine tuning what we have built so far instead of extending the trail, or at least we could split the group up and some could work on improvements. Like smack said, I think a lot of the turns need some work to really make the trail flow better.
