Going to do a short run here tomorrow night to shakedown new parts before heading to Harmonie on Saturday. I'll update whenever I get back about how terrible the conditions are. I expect almost everything but the levee figure 8 to be soaked.

We ended up just riding the Figure 8. You can tell there hasnt been much traffic out there, plenty of thorns but overall pretty fast. We were trying to get out before the rain hit, so we really didnt try to trek back into the slough.

I can only imagine how thick it is back there. With the river as high as it is now, the water doesn't have a lot of places to go. My son and I cleared the Wabash Canal trail today and it was pretty much closed off by the under growth and vines so Im gonna assume the same for angel mounds.

Has anyone been out lately ? I may go this weekend.
I'm sure its pretty "lush and green" not to mention soupy.
I have one of those fancy quick change weed eater heads now, curious how well it works

I was out there last Friday and just rode the trail just south of the levee that runs parallel to it. Even that section is getting pretty overgrown. Doesn't look like anyone has been out there.

Trails are in good shape, I trimmed back all the vines and thorns on the main loop. Far as I could get before dark. huge amount of people there today and also a big group of college guys running cross country. I heard a few of them scream in agony at times when they hit a thorn branch

Rode Angel Mounds last night and the trails were surprisingly in great shape. Most of the snow was cleared off and the ground was frozen. The trails were much better than the last time I was out there 2-3 years ago.

Went out scouting today for possible spots to build bridges / crossings. A lot of water moved through there and is just standing and draining of in the southern portions.

Hearing the trails are in pretty bad shape with flood damage and downed trees. May take a while to get her back in shape.
Hopefully things will be good to go for summer when things dry out!
.....don't forget the bug spray!!

There are a few whole trees that blew over but most is moderate limb fall. nothing a chainsaw couldn't handle. Only problem is its everywhere. There are two things that are pretty big, the bridge on the Alcoa trail is a wreck, you can see it in the photos. about 20ft of it is missing. As if it just floated away. What's left is not very stable. The other big deal it the mud that the river deposited is anywhere from 2 - 5 inch thick. Some of the trail is actually gone / buried. I actually could not find my way at all in some places. The mud just covers everything like lava from a volcano. Mike and crew are gonna head out Tuesday and survey the damage. He said the DNR is dumping state historical stes so they will be relying on volunteer efforts. s649.photobucket.com/albums/uu218/spiritwild1/Angel/Angel%20Mounds%202011%20Storms/

I rode just the section that runs parrallel to the levee on my lunch break yesterday and it was perfect. Anybody know what the rest of the area looks like out there these days?
