Trails are perfect. Pruned the Sycamore Loop and the Walnut Connector. Removed fallen logs that were laying across the trail or down onto it. Cleaned up the entrance to both trails where the branches were down to about six feet. Removed the dead vines hanging down on the Walnut entrance. Trimmed the branches hanging down from the fallen tree on the Walnut trail. Tried to hand cut the log near the end of the Walnut extension, but its just too big. It will take a chainsaw to do it.
Removed the ramp on the Sycamore Loop. State park rules don't allow this. We can have natural obstacles that are built w/ dirt, rock, and logs. The Sycamore Loop is a beginner trail, so according to IMBA standards, there should be no obstacles on it. The ramp really didn't hurt (no pun intended) the flow of the trail, but we'll have to build a natural one. Also, it was noticed we are cutting straight trail bypassing some reverse turns. I know this allows more speed, but if we continue to do this, the trails will degrade. After all, where's the skill in going in a straight line? Please stay on the designated trail.

Trails are dry and dusty. With a big helping of dust.

Trails were fun today.. didn't ride full bore tho in scare of sliding out on some corners. Fast and dusty is the word until we get some rain. If your riding behind someone you better have some glasses on.

Trails are in great shape after the rain we had on Saturday - settled the dust. Pruned back some trees that were covering the trail, especially the paw paw trees near the fire road.

Trails are good. The dust is coming back though. Weather is perfect for a ride.

Trails are dusty again making some corners slick if going too fast, especially on the Sycamore Loop. Good time to cruise and check out the foliage so we don't erode the trails by excessive skidding.

Rained in the park last night but wasn't even enough to settle all of the dust. Some natural ball bearings (acorns) are on the Walnut trail and leaves are falling across most of the trail. Still excellent conditions to ride.

Trails are good. Leaves are falling on the Sycamore Loop making it a little difficult to see the trail in some places. Nature's ball bearings, acorns, are all over the Walnut Trail, making it slick in some places, especially on the downhill turns. Definitely a good ride, though.

Trails are in great shape but still a little dry. There were enough riders this weekend to beat the leaves off the trails.

rails are in good shape. Some leaves on them but still dry conditions. Go ride - the foliage is prime now!

Walked about three miles of the Sycamore Loop tonight. Removed most of the debris but there are a couple of fallen trees that will need to be cut to be moved. I'll get them tomorrow. The trail was damp throughout with some really slick spots. Should dry out well by tomorrow afternoon. Plan on checking all of the trails tomorrow once they dry out to remove the storm debris.

All trails are good to ride - no wet spots! I removed three downed trees and a bunch of big branches on the Sycamore Loop and the Walnut Connector (to Trail's End sign). There are a lot of leaves, but the only place I couldn't recognize the trail was on top of grapevine hill near the end of the Walnut Connector extension. Luckily, there is a pink ribbon tied to a tree that helps find the trail. I'll try to work on the leaves next week - kinda waiting for the rest to fall so I only have to do it once.

Raked about 2 miles of the Sycamore Loop where it was the worst - trail is in really excellent shape now. Just a few spots where the leaves still need to be removed. Didn't do anything on the Walnut Connector but riders said it was great. The ground is hard and not dusty. Remember, there is a lot of activity in the park tomorrow due to Halloween.

Trails still have some leaves on them. Wind was picking up in the park today, so there may be some stuff on the trails. WE HAVE A RESTROOM AT THE SYCAMORE TRAILHEAD! Really nice. Don't know if they got the installation complete. Just needed to fill in some dirt and add a sidewalk, but it is useable now.
