Did anyone get to ride the new section? I had to leave a little after noon so I wasn't able to ride any. I hope to be back this coming weekend. BTW I think it was a great trail work day. Now that we finally started hopefully it will motivate more people to help with the trail building.

Trails were in good shape yesterday evening with just a few scattered wet spots. I imagine they will be perfect by this afternoon if we dont get any rain. There were a ton of people out riding. I officially started my training for the bike part of the triathlon.

I noticed the new flagged part of the trail has a ton of down trees that will need to be removed. Will someone have a chainsaw there Sunday or be certified to use one? I can bring mine if needed however I have not been "certified" by the park to use it.

Harmonie must have missed the storm we had in Evansville on Monday evening because the trails were bone dry this afternoon. Best conditions I have seen them this year. I rode/walked the new flagged section and I can tell this is going to be a fun trail. I cant wait to start working on it.

Yep the xterra people are removing too much stuff from the trails. I just noticed on Monday that they cut down another tree, the one on the left hand side of that big downhill on the backside.

Trails were in excellent shape yesterday afternoon. It was nice to ride in sub 70deg. weather for a change. Hopefully we wont get much rain today and tomorrow and they will be good to go by the weekend.

I'm not sure how long the chainsaw cert. class will last but I would think that it would be a good idea to go ahead and combine it with a trail work day while we already have a group of people there.

I was not aware that any of the trail had been cut. Last time I was there I walked in about 100' where it is flagged and I didnt see anything other than markers.

I also recommend anyone who is considering working on the trails to watch the IMBA trailbuilding video. It has a ton of great information and is actually pretty interesting. Best part is that its free, just order it online and it will be at your house in a couple days.

I've been more than willing to help with building the new trail for a while now but like you, I have not heard much talk about it. I work till 5 during the week and weekends are hit and miss for me but if my schedule is clear I am more than willing to drive out there and help when I can. I dont ride at harmonie that often because it is just hard for me to drive 40 minutes to ride a 5 mile beginner loop and short out and back. Dont get me wrong, the trails are awesome, I just think that if there were a few more miles of trail with some more difficulty, they would attract a lot more riders. I ride scales 3-4 times a week just because its a little closer than harmonie and I enjoy the difficulty of the trails. I would ride harmonie a lot more if this new advanced section were complete.

Trails were perfect yesterday (Sunday). Got in 3 loops before dark. The parking lot was full of riders when I got there. I noticed more widening on a few sections of the trail, mainly on the begining of the trail that you enter behind the dam riding CW. Its the section of trail with the steep drop to the left with the pit. I assume this was done by the YMCA Triathlon people.

Rode harmonie Sunday afternoon. Overall the trails were in pretty good shape. The loop had some muddy spots but it was definetly rideable. The out and back was in perfect shape with one massive tree down at the beginning. The loop also had 1 tree down in it as well. I rode the loop backwards (CW) for the first time and I think I actually liked it better going in that direction. It had some nice long downhills. I stopped and looked at where the new Walnut connector trail starts and it doesnt look like much as been done other than some markers. I would like to help get started on this trail and now would be the perfect time to do it before the bugs and ticks get too bad. Anyone know if they have any work days planned?

I saw parts of the trail that you marked off when I was there on friday. It could be a fun trail, a lot of steep terrain in that area. I usually ride out there in the evening during the week if you want to meet sometime.

Those cuts look real good. Was that you working on the drops on Saturday? Sure was, I smoothed the landing out and removed a few root stubs that were sticking out. Also made the landing a little steeper as well. I never was happy with the landing on that drop. BTW I dont know who built that 2nd drop to the right but it still needs a little more work. Im not sure if they were trying to make it a smaller drop than the other one but its about the same height. Someone else had already made a bunch of cuts before I got there but I found a few places that still needed them.
