Got out to Scales Lake yesterday, kind of mad at myself for not getting out there sooner. That place is awesome. I need to explore some of the other trails I rode past but man those short little steeps kept knocking me off the bike < need to ride more>. One thought, does everyone park at the beginning to avoid the $2 entry fee or do you still have to pay it? Either way, if the $2 goes to keeping the park running and improving the trails, I think we should pay it every time or do they have a 1yr park pass? Too much time in OR. and paid all the user fees. Money well spent for epic rides. Wonder if IN could get something going to help fund the parks and trail development. Hello fellow trail riders. My name is Brad and I live in Boonville. I'm 30 yrs old and have a baby girl due in December. I know, I better ride my tail off before then! My wife was an avid trail rider also until..., you guessed it. I teach 8th grade science at Boonville Middle School and hope to start a bike club there soon.
Trail riding has always been my passion. High speeds through the trees never gets old. I grew up riding trails all over the mines around Boonville since I was about 13. Worked at Gilles for a couple of years in College (USI) and started racing XC a little bit. Racing kind of burned me out, so I pretty much just ride for the fun of it and to keep improving. Lived in Colorado for a couple of years and taught at an alternative high school near Vail. Friday gym classes consisted of snowboarding and dh mountain biking.
Why did I leave... good question. My wife got into grad school in Long Beach, CA so we moved to the west coast. I wasn't too happy about it at first, going from the best riding in the country to the dry, sandy trails of Socal. As always, meeting riding buddies made my stay there unforgettable. I've really taken to dh riding and dirt jumping, but never lost the urge to head out for an all-day epic on the trail bike.
We've been back about a month now, and I can already see that the Southern Indiana mountain biking scene is growing. I've only been riding at Scales Lake, but can't wait to see the new trails that have been built recently. Keep up the hard work guys, your work is definitely showing. See you on the trails. Bs

Some friends and I try to get together a couple of times a year to head into the Louiseville area. So far no trips yet this year, but I need a little Ft.Duffield soon. If you've not been there it's the closest thing to dh/fr we have. A few different lines down, including dirt jumps, gaps, step downs, berms, creek beds, creek jumps, and some pinners. Pm me, maybe we can get a few guys together to ride before your child arrives. Don't worry though I've got a 4 year old daughter and still get my mtb fix. BTW I like the work you've done out at the lake We had something similar out at USI -Seth

Born in Henderson, now live in Franklin, TN. Now 41. (Wow that sounds old when I say it ) Into mountain biking for a little over a year now. Member of Nashvillemountainbike.com. Favorite trails in this area in no particular order are Montgomery Bell state park, Dickson, TN, Lock 4, Gallatin, TN, and Chickasaw Trace, Columbia, TN. Also REALLY dig Racoon Mountain in Chattanooga. Looking for a place to ride over the weekend. Staying with family in the Henderson area, and was looking forward to riding Ben Hawes, which is closed and I am bummed. Anybody doing a Black Friday ride within 50-60 miles of Henderson?

Sorry about Hawes. Big plans are in the works so you might keep it in mind next year. Depending on how much rain we recieve Thursday night.... New Harmonie might be your best/closest option. (I haven't been yet) French Lick may be a little further but worth the drive. We went last week and the trails are of the highest quality and freshly groomed. Other options might include Scales lake Booneville and Grapevine lake in Madisonville/Erlington. Good luck and enjoy.
btw... I enjoy Montgomery Bell, Lock 4 and Racoon as well.

Hi, Im Kent. Am 44 years old... whew. I live in Mount Vernon and have lived in this area all my life. I'm married to my wonderful wife and have 3 children.
Been riding MTB since about '94, and riding the road since about '04. I put in more miles on the road, but MTB is still my number one choice.
Stable includes a GT RTS-1 for the trails, yeah its old but still strong. Looking to retire it soon, looking to get a Yeti ASR or Cannondale Scalpel. My road bike is a Specialized Tarmac...
Glad I found this forum and might be able to meet up with some other folks riding.

Hey, My name is Tyler, I'm 19 and I am currently living in Las Vegas NV and for about 2 years now. I grew up in Huntingburg Indiana and I am about to move back to the burg around the beginning of June this year. I got into mountain biking a few months after moving to Vegas. I am going to continue mtbn so I am hoping to find a few people to show me around the trails.
