Matt Bennett, 34, Haubstadt. BSME from Rose-Hulman. Work as a Sales Engineer/Manager for Mitsubishi Electric HVAC.
Been MTB for maybe 5 years. Spend most of my time riding XC races on Motorcycle or Quad. Try to do MTB and Road to get/stay in shape. Also into weight lifting, RC racing, Racing Simulators, camping, boating, and dogs. Entirely too many hobbies to do any one very well...
Currently riding a Trek Fuel and a GF Rig out at Scales and Harmonie. So if you see a linebacker on a bike, it may be me.

Just heard about this forum thought I would give it a shot.
Keith / 29 / Evansville / Network Support
I have lived downtown for the past 5 years or so and have loved bike riding since I was a kid. I grew up in Spencer county so there wasn't a lot of pavement to ride on, bmx bikes and atv's were the popular assault vehicles for children in that area.
Since then I have mostly rode modified urban assault style bikes but I Have been wanting to get into more trail riding lately.

Realized I had never posted a proper introduction in this thread, guess I did it on the old board.
My name.....is Alex.
Currently 29, Live on the Northside by the Airport. Work for Norlight Telecom as Manager of Internet Support.
I've been riding my whole life, but started riding frequently in 2001. In the past few years my focus has gone from urban Freeride to pure trail style riding with a once a week nice relaxing concrete ride in the downtown area.
I frequent Angel Mounds due to it's proximity to me when it's dry enough, try to get out there daily during the summer. I really enjoy New Harmonie and sometimes make it to Scales as well.
This year I hope to try out everything we have within a reasonable day trip distance. Ferdinand, French Lick and the HNF local trails.
Just in general enjoy being outside, whether it be biking, camping, hiking, shooting or just drinking a beer on my back porch. I'm very happy for spring's arrival.

I'm Glenn, I'm 28 years old and have recently re-started bike riding. I just bought a new Specialized Stumpy FSR to get me going. Love it.
I have a slightly more aggressive riding style, but I tend to disagree with hills (the going up part); though I will endure the pain to get to the pleasure.
I live in Evansville and I am looking to remain involved with mountain biking.

Hi I'm Larry. I'm 52 years young and have recently started biking again. I'm an Evansville East-sider and am only about 4-miles from Angel Mounds. I rode there several times towards the end of last year and loved every minute of it, even the slogging through the mud parts!
I would appreciate any advise on where to ride as my next step up in the learning process of mountain biking.

There are a few narrow places, but it's pretty mellow for the most part.

Well, I'm finally getting around to doing this.... I've been a member since last December.
I'm Tim Barnes and have recently returned to mountain bike riding. I've ridden road bikes since 1982 - sometimes a lot and sometimes a little, depending on how much extra time I had. For a short time in the early '90's I tried mountain biking, but with no where close to ride and the ease of just taking off on the road bike, I didn't do it for long.
Last year, I heard about the mountain bike trails being built in Harmonie State Park. I spend a lot of time there photographing landscapes and hiking the foot trails, so I was interested in these new trails. I hiked them last year when they opened and wondered about riding them.
I recently retired after 38 years at GE/Sabic-IP. My retirement gift to myself was a Stumpjumper FSR. I really enjoy mountain biking, but the challenge is smooth, steady riding, not speed. Those reckless days of pushing the edge are gone for me. I break and bleed too easily and don't heal too quickly anymore.
I'm very interested in maintaining existing trails and working on new ones. I helped out on the December trail building session at Harmonie. This Spring, I checked the status of the Harmonie trails, cutting down vines and small trees that had fallen over the trails and trimming back briars growing onto the trails, at least once a week. Now I'm working on the new Walnut Loop some. I still enjoy riding them, too! You might have seen me there - I'm the guy with the crosscut saw and trimmers in my Camelbak on the white Stumpjumper.
My wife, Ann, and I enjoy hiking and biking. I still dab in photography, too. This summer, we plan on traveling to a lot of state parks to check out the trails. Retirement is great for that kind of stuff!

I don't want to rush things but I'm looking forward to living your lifestyle. Good for you Tim. Harmonie is lucky to have you! If your free on the 29th you should consider the IMBA event at O'Bannon Woods State Park.

Plan on going to O'Bannon on Saturday - previous commitments won't let me go Friday and Sunday. Hope to learn a lot about trail building.

Hey there! My names Patrick and I am 23 from Santa Claus, IN. I came across this site while looking for some trails to ride. I recently got into mountain biking and love it, though I am a bit slow right now. I don't really have anyone to ride with so I have just been going to Lincoln State Park and riding some trails there. I hope to learn some stuff and maybe find some guys/gals to ride with!

Hi! Zane here...recently moved to Evansville from Co Springs, CO. Lived down in Clarksville, TN awhile so I know the trails down around LBL and Nashville...but don't know much about the trails around here. I've got more mountain bikes than I can ride at one time, but fewer bikes than my wife has cats which is a sad state of affairs. I'd like to get to know the trails around here...also would like to help out with trail maintenance next time folks get together. Also interested in doing a 24 hour race one of these days if anybody is looking to get a team together...but I'm not really that fast.

Welcome! Wow, moving from Colorado to Evansville you may be a little dissapointed in the trails around here but I guess there are worse places. As far as trails around evansville (less than an hr) Harmonie and Scales are probably the top two. You have come to the right place for info on trails, you should be able to find everything you need about local trails here.
