Tim, do you think we should try to have a work day this weekend? Maybe work on the reroute and also the exit trail at the end of the new section.

Great idea, Daniel. I'm a little incapacitated but will help with anything I can. I was wondering about going out some evening to scope it out, then use the normal work day on the 3rd Saturday to put the sections in. The reroute around the dam (new ravine) will take a while to figure out...

The trails are in good shape. Walked Sycamore: some sections need to be trimmed and a small tree needs to be removed. Walnut is in good shape, but the detour is still in effect for the new ravine. Will be working on Sycamore tomorrow. Saw someone riding with an HMBA jersey today.

Thunderstorms hit the park last night with a lot of rain. The trails are too wet today to ride. Scattered thunderstorms forecast for today. Hopefully, they'll miss the park.

Walked Sycamore in the rain today. A lot of debris down and a couple of trees that will need chainsawing. The trail itself is absolutely saturated! The earliest it may be possible to ride is probably Monday. The trails will have to be cleared off by the first riders unless someone walks them to clean them off. I won't be able to work on them until Monday.

Worked on Sycamore today. It is in really good shape. Still have a mile and a half to clean up. Two trees are down on Walnut. I'll try to get them tomorrow with the help of the Harmonie folks. Both trails are good to ride, though. Yellow only because of the debris still on Walnut.

Both trails are dry and ready to ride. Removed the trees from Walnut today. May be some small debris left on Walnut, but that's it. Enjoy. Just be careful with the heat - I could only last about 2.5 hours today. Summer's here.

The trail has some wet spots. Thanks to those who respected the trail status and didn't ride yesterday on the wet trails. For the rest of you, we'll be out repairing the trails today - come on out and help.

The trails are good-to-go. Some areas still need to be trimmed, but nothing serious. We'll continue to clean them up some more.

Thunderstorms passed through the area last night and a steady rain settled in this morning for a couple of hours. The trails are too wet to ride and there may be possible storm debris down now. More storms are forecast for this afternoon. I'll check again tomorrow and update the status.

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain And the anxious mountain bikers were on the trails again.
The trail is generally in good shape with some sloppy spots. Evening thunderstorms passed to the south of the park. Just watch the trails and don't ride if they are too wet tomorrow (scattered thunderstorms forecast).

Thunderstorms went through HSP this morning early. More rain is forecast for today and the next few days. Hopefully, the trails will get a chance to dry out for next weekend. I'm out-of-town starting Thursday for the weekend, so others will need to provide trail updates then.

Just walked parts of Sycamore and Walnut (1 pm local time). Both are still too wet to ride even though the sun is out. They are still closed. They should be okay by tomorrow afternoon (yellow status) if there is no more rain this evening or tomorrow morning.
BTW, there is a new sign by the front gate stating whether the mountain bike trails are open or closed. Even when the status is "open", they may be too wet/muddy to ride. Usually Walnut is okay to ride even though Sycamore may be too wet. That's why the status is this way. Just remember - if you're leaving ruts, its too wet to ride.

Rain stayed away from HSP and none expected tomorrow. Walnut should be good to go while Sycamore may have some sections that will require walking around. Use your own discretion. Please bail off the trail if your leaving ruts.

Thanks for the updates Tim. I come here to check trail conditions at least twice a day every day.
