I was out at HSP after the storm working on the reroute tonight. Closed the gates to due to the rain. The trails are pretty wet but if we don't get anymore rain I think they will be good tomorrow afternoon. I'll keep ya posted.

Ride with caution. The trails will be sloppy in some spots. Walnut is drier than Sycamore with only a couple of wet spots.
The trails have debris on them from the recent storms. I removed the big stuff from Walnut to the walking trail while I was trimming the first mile. Sycamore probably has some big stuff on it as well as the regular branches and twigs that come with the storms. Please report anything that needs our attention (down trees, collapsed trail, etc) if you ride it. Hopefully, Tarl and I can clean them off this week. Of course, scattered thunderstorms are forecast each day for the rest of the week, so who knows...
While working today, two newbies passed me on their bikes. The trails were decent enough to ride, but I thought it was interesting that I was removing serious limbs from the trail later where they had to have ridden. These were too big to ride over (especially for new guys). I guess they thought these were features and left them. I didn't see them again to let them know the difference.

Thunderstorm hitting the park now. Chased me out of the woods. The trails are closed. There is a tree down on Sycamore near the start (going clockwise). HSP guys will get it either tomorrow or Thursday. There may be more after the storms today. I finished trimming Walnut to the walking trail and blew it off to the first bridge before the rain came.

Trail status is "yellow". Some soft spots, especially on Sycamore. Some debris from yesterday's storms on the trails. The tree on Sycamore is still there.

Rode HSP tonight (Sycamore loop and Walnut connector)and it was good to go. Soft spots were small so no problem. There is some debris from yesterdays storm but it didn't bother me. There were a couple of trees down but I moved one of them. The downed tree kinda close to the start of Sycamore going clockwise is still there. Also, towards the end of the walnut ridge trail there is a tree down over the trail in a spot around a corner that you cant see until you get right up on it. I put a part of the tree over the trail right before it. Hopefully that will make people slow down there so people won't run into it full bore.

Removed the tree close to the start of Sycamore (clockwise) and the tree near the end of Walnut. Thought that was all of them, but a rider later told me there was another one down on Sycamore. He couldn't tell me where it was, though. The Walnut trail to the walking trail is "P"ristine - trimmed and blown free of debris. The Walnut trail after the detour is "P"rimitive - not trimmed or cleaned of debris. Sycamore is now is pretty good shape, too. If anyone can let me know where that tree is, I will take care of it tomorrow.
I'm out-of-town again from next Tuesday to Monday: Destin, FL baby!

More thunderstorms hit HSP Saturday night and early Sunday morning. The trails are too wet to travel to check for damage. Will check out tomorrow if there is no more rain. Both Walnut and Sycamore trails are closed.

All trails are all good. To whoever trimmed up walnut , Thank you. Now all that trail needs is to be blown off. The tree down on walnut connector can be taken care of with a hand saw. There is also the branches of a downed tree over the trail on sycamore in the first real fast section between the bail out at the sycamore shelter and the half way point (walking trail #?) I plowed though the little branches on my ride because that is my line though there, but not everyone is going to do that. All and all, all the the trails out there are riding beautiful. And please intermediate riders put your tires on the newer stuff on walnut. The trail still needs some packing in some places.

Yeah Zach, I was also wondering who trimmed up the new section of walnut, it looked great. Also, nice work on the exit trail and the reroute. I need to get out there and help out.

Trees are gone. The back half of Walnut is trimmed except for a short section going down to the pond. Got too hot! Watch out for bees at the fallen tree where you ride under it. I got stung four times before I could get away from them. You'll probably be okay if you just ride through - they didn't like me trimming around their hive. I didn't hang around to see exactly where it is.
